Hamsah and Kabbalah
What is Hamsah?
The Hamsah in Hebrew
is from the word Hamesh or 5. The five-fingered hand is a symbol of blessing and protection within the Jewish tradition. Alternate spellings of the Hamsah hand include: Hamsa, Hamseh, Khamsa, and Khamseh.
What is Kabbalah?
The Kabbalah (Kabala, or Kabbala) is an aspect of Jewish mysticism. According to the Kabbalah, when misfortune befalls a person, it happens because someone has given him/her the Evil Eye. According to the Kabbalah, there are many ways that the negative energy from the Evil Eye can be averted. One way is described in Zohar, where the positive energy from Rachel’s tomb is represented in the red strings. These red strings, combined with the Hamsah charm are a powerful source of protection against evil forces.
